AI Usage Policy

This is Naelthira’s Policy regarding the usage of AI (Large Language Models, Generators, etc).

Foundation

The foundation of Naelithira, which includes the Wiki and the Forum and all other associated resources, is to be a cooperative writing site where simming/online text roleplay is done.

  1. We want to preserve the voices and thoughts of people that go into creative writing and storytelling.
  2. Most AI/LLMs have been trained using pirated books, films, and other sources where the authors of those sources are not compensated. It also removes the control of those authors and publishers on the use of their works.
  3. We want to highlight the original thought and creativity that goes into the contributions of our members. AI/LLMs tend to use generic, emotionless mashups of works they have scraped.
  4. When our members claim authorship over their works, it truly belongs to them and contributes to the community as a whole.
  5. Falsifying or misrepresenting AI-generated text creates mistrust and damages everyone involved.

Risks of Using AI/LLMs for Writing

The following risks of using AI/LLMs are something all authors should be aware of:

  • AI-generated text cannot be copyrighted. AI-generated text is required to be disclosed by an official registration of copyright. (See:Copyright Office Guide on AI Usage)
  • If a story is published professionally and AI is used without disclosure, with most publishers, it is considered to be a breach of contract.
  • AI-generated text often includes material scraped from copyrighted sources belonging to other authors.
  • Any material you enter into an AI is used for it to train and scrape for other queries for anyone. Meaning it is giving those same ideas to other people, even if it was your original work you entered or had read.
  • AI outputs are not fact-checked.

Naelthira Specific Rules Regarding AI/LLM

Rules and Policies for AI/LLM use on this site.

  • You may not use AI/LLM for any text output to post on the Wiki and the Forum.
  • You may use AI Images with Clear Disclosure that it is AI-generated.((We prefer human artists.)
    • The use of AI; the name of the AI, the username of the person who used it, and the date it was generated must be clearly noted in the Wiki article or at the bottom of the Forum post.
    • The generated image must not have any noticeably copyrighted or trademarked material in it.
    • These images are considered unowned and may be removed from the site at the discretion of the site’s administration.
  • The consequence of using AI/LLM text output without disclosure or misrepresentation will result in the immediate removal of the text generated, and you will be banned from the site for a period of time at the discretion of the site’s administration.
